Year 6 have their Maths SATs today, so needed feeding up with a good breakfast again to prepare their brains for lots of calculating and problem-solving. Yum Yum!
World Champion England Cricketer
We are really, REALLY lucky to have Jenny Gunn with us today, talking to the children in assembly about what it is like to be a WORLD CUP WINNER. Jenny plays cricket for the England Women’s Cricket team, and they won the Women’s World Cup at the last World Cup tournament in 2009. She has been working with Rich, our cricket coach who has been working with Year 5 children to develop our cricket skills. Maybe we will develop another Jenny to play for the England Women’s Cricket team in the future.
Girls may be interested to join one of several new Girl’s Cricket Clubs starting up in Northampton. Pick up a leaflet in the school office if you are interested.

Year 6 Brain food
Breakfast is being served on both campuses to our wonderful Y6 children to prepare them mentally and physically for their SATs today. Cereal, toast, croissants and pancakes are being served, and everyone is tucking in and feeding their brains ready for the Reading Comprehension test today. Good luck today; you are all stars!
And with SATs underway, as always, I sat the reading comprehension test with the children. Can you see my brain working hard?
Skype America!
This week I had the privilege of joining Class 10 in their innovative information sharing session with their Quadblogging partner class in America. Both classes had prepared information, resources and short talks to share with their partner class through Skype video interaction, informing their new friends about our school, town and country. It was a fantastic thing to witness, and brought the learning alive for our children. What better way to learn about life in America than to hear about it from the mouths of our friends who live there.
Well done Class 10, and thank you for inviting me to join in with this wonderful experience.
You can see some short video clips of our Skype experience on the class 10 blog: class10.ectonbrookprimaryblogs.net
What I do when I’m not at school!
I often get asked by children what it is that I do when I’m not at school. Well, today I’m in Leicester at the Naace partners event, putting faces to Twitter names and talking about technology in our wonderful school. It is always a privilege to talk to others about the fantastic children and families at Ecton Brook and Bellinge, and today I received some amazing feedback about the work we are all doing. Another proud Head Teacher moment.
Here are some of the amazing things that were posted on my Twitter page about us:
“Your school sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing with us at the Naace sponsor event.”
“Our sponsoring partners’ day closes the day with a brilliant local school, this time Mrs Kedwards of the amazing @ectonbrookpri
“Great energy, superb examples of tech across school from Mrs Kedwards at Ecton Brook Primary”
“Amazing work going on.”
IQM celebration evening
I have the privilege of spending the evening at Spinney Hill hall with Miss Moloney and the school Samba band. We have watched, listened, smiled and ‘wowed’ at the range of performances from Northampton Primary Schools, but they’ve saved the best till last! We are the headline act …. Watch this space for photos of our Samba-tastic performance.
Wow. Our Samba group were AMAZING!
We just received our award along with 13 other schools. Proud head teacher moment
Y3/4 Multisports
Five Rings Festival
Year 6 children from both campuses joined together in the school minibus today to attend the county Five Rings Festival, a special inter-schools mulit-sport tournament at Moulton College. The children are taking part in a wide range of sporting activities, all against children from other schools, and are really excited about meeting new friends and having sporting fun. What a fantastic attitude. I hope they are having a great time.
3.30 p.m. update – the girls team won their Basketball game, and the boys almost won their tag rugby but are losing 10-9 as we approach the final whistle.
New Play Trail
Yay, the new play trail has been installed at Bellinge at last, and it looks FANTASTIC! The children are really excited and can’t wait to use it. Unfortunately, because of the rain, we need to leave it until after the weekend to use. Never mind, it’ll be worth the wait. Huge thanks to the PTA and donations from Mr Smith for raising the funds to make this happen.
Have a look at the photo and let me know what you think of our new trail.
